Before your conversation, note what you can:
[ ] Renewal/maturity date and any response deadline
[ ] Current lender, balance, rate, payment and remaining amortization
[ ] Renewal offer, if received, including term and payment options
[ ] Other loans or credit lines secured against the property
[ ] Plans to move, renovate, borrow more or make extra payments
[ ] Changes in income, employment, business ownership or household expenses
[ ] Comfortable monthly payment and questions you want answered

Questions to compare:
[ ] Total interest and fees over the same comparison period
[ ] Prepayment privileges, penalty calculation and portability conditions
[ ] Switching costs, documents and deadlines
[ ] Whether the request is a renewal, a switch or a refinance
[ ] What remains subject to lender review
